Gardaí have launched an investigation after another vehicle became stuck under Sarsfield Bridge and Honan’s Quay in Limerick.
According to the Limerick Post, on numerous occasions, drivers in large vehicles such as lorries and trucks have become stuck underneath the bridge.
Yesterday evening, a lorry became wedged underneath the bridge and was significantly damaged in the impact.
The distance between the bridge and the surface of the roadway is 2.5 metres.
Despite signposts being visible stating the distance between the bridge and the roadway, accidents occur their often, according to the Limerick Post.
It is currently unknown if there have been any injuries following the incident.
Members of an Garda Síochána responded to the scene.
The bridge has been involved in a number of incidents as it is now a commonly known thing that large vehicles keep getting stuck.
Back in March, Limerick Live reported that a driver got his calculations "badly wrong" when attempting to drive under the bridge. The Limerick news outlet stated that the van driver can "take some solace from the fact that he isn’t the first and probably won’t be the last to hit the bridge at that spot.
