Billie Eilish almost scrapped her hit, Birds Of A Feather.
The singer revealed in a recent interview that she almost tossed the track away, which was released in May last year, before going on to be played over three billion times on Spotify. It featured on the singer's track album, Hit Me Hard and Soft.
In this interview, Eilish said that she felt like scrapping the track as it felt "kind of stupid".
"Multiple times I was like, ‘We should cut this.' Even when I played the whole album for the label, I was like, ‘Guys, this one is kind of stupid", she said.
Eilish also went on to reveal that the music industry had casted doubt over her downbeat songs would appeal to a wide audience.
"It’s so funny to think back on all of the criticisms that were like, ‘The songs are too sad.' “So many people and companies wanted us to make happier songs", the singer stated.
When writing Birds of a Feather, Eilish said that she wanted to add "something dark" to ensure that the song was not all "rainbows and smiles".
"We wrote about the idea that you’re going to die soon, and let’s make it last", she added.
Birds of a Feather won Eilish a Grammy Award nomination for Song of the Year, Record of the Year and Best Pop Solo Performance. It also reached number two on the Billboard 200 and number one in the Billboard Global 200 for three weeks.
Back in April, Eilish also admitted that she "absolutely hated" her name growing up. More on this story here.
