Ed Sheeran has revealed that his next album is almost "ready to go".
The singer, whose latest album 'Play', will arrive on Friday (September 12), has said that his next album, 'Rewind' is just a few months away from being "ready to go", but stated that it will not be released until 2027.
“I made Play and Rewind at the same time and we finished Play first because it felt like the most exciting one", Sheeran was quoted in saying in The Sun's newspaper Bizarre column. “So Rewind is I’d say two months off being totally locked and loaded and ready to go".
“I guess at some point in the next 18 months it will come out".
While he has called Play and Rewind "twin albums", Ed Sheeran has said that these LPs are ultimately very different.
“They’re very much like twin albums. But one lent more into Indian culture and one lent more into nostalgia. So they veered off in different directions", he said.
When asked of he had struggled to cut down the number of songs for Rewind, Sheeran explained: “Weirdly no, because each song has a purpose".
“With each album you have the songs you think are the singles and then in the gaps, basically you have to do purposeful songs rather than having ten singles", Sheeran added. “You do a song like Azizam and a song like Sapphire, but then a song like Old Phone and a Little More. I feel like they give the album a journey and purpose rather than it just being bangers".
This also comes as Ed Sheeran had revealed that he is "just about to move to America" with his family, hinting that his US tour was a reason for his decision to relocate. Find out on this story here.
