Madonna has made chart history after her latest album, Confessions II, debuted at number one in the US, giving her chart-topping albums across four different decades.
The Queen of Pop has now reached the top of the Billboard 200 in the 1980s, 2000s, 2010s and 2020s. While she had several number two albums in the US during the 1990s, she never managed to claim the top spot in her home country during that decade.
The album has also been a success in the UK, where it reached number one on Friday. That means Madonna has now achieved UK number one albums across five different decades.
Confessions II is Madonna's tenth number one album in the US and her 13th in the UK. It has been praised by critics, with many calling it her strongest work in years.
Reacting to the album's success, Madonna shared a heartfelt message with fans on social media.

"The Goodwill and positivity has been incredible. I’m still pinching myself."
"I can’t believe it’s # 1 all around the world. My dream was to make people dance this summer!! To bring people JOY! Dreams do come true. Thanks and love!"

Fans were quick to show their support. One wrote: 'You deserve all the praise.'
Another shared a deeply heartfelt message dedicated to the pop legend: 'You didn’t just make people dance, you reminded me why I keep reinventing my life and trusting my own gut, because you never asked permission either. You’ve been the throughline of my whole life, and this album arrived exactly when I needed it. Grateful beyond words.'
Another fan had a cheeky request: 'Amazing album. I guess a tour is a given?!'
