Niall Horan is announced that his fourth solo album is nearly finished.
The former One Direction singer revealed this while speaking with Fleur East, Will Best and James Barr on Hits Radio Breakfast via a Zoom call, to speak about his new collaboration with Myles Smith.
"I'm in here finishing it right now. So I'm in the beat lab!", Horan said. "Fans won't have to wait much longer for a first taste of the new era, as Niall teased: "I'm just finishing off some vocal bits and things like that, that I wasn't happy with, but yeah! I should have music some time this year. And I'm very excited about it!".
Speaking about his new collaboration with Myles Smith, Horan described it as a huge responsibility.
"It's tough when someone asks you to do this because, it's very close to his heart, something like very serious to him. And for me to then come and write the rest of it with him was obviously a tall ask", the Mullingar native said.
Despite this pressure, Horan stated that the creative chemistry is still there.
"Then we just met up and we said we'd see what happened and we're in the studio together and it just, it clicked," Niall said. "It meant something to me, and it meant something completely different to him and that's the great thing about these kinds of things", he said.
The track is called 'Drive Safe', and you can check it out below.
When Fleur, Will and James joked that they will audition for a part in his next music video, Horan jokingly gave them a "firm no," keeping the focus entirely on the music coming from the "beat lab" later this year.
Last month, Niall Horan spoke of his appreciation of One Direction fans, praising them for their support when he started out.
"We had this thing the whole way through our career, and I still have it now, where we're just happy to be anywhere,” he said. “I look out at these arenas full of people and think, this would literally be an empty room if you didn’t buy tickets. You have to hold onto that feeling. If you lose gratitude, you're done. That mindset kept us grounded from day one, and it still keeps me grounded now".
