In typically unfiltered fashion, Paloma Faith has announced she’s expecting her third child. At 44, she’s made no effort to present this as anything other than what it is: her next great personal plot twist.
The Upside Down singer shared a candid photo on Instagram showing her baby bump, captioning it simply: “Plot twist, mother is mothering (again).” She laced it with her signature humour, adding the hashtags “#morethangeriatricpregnancy #oappregnancy #oapmilf #18weekspregnant.”
The announcement sparked an outpouring of congratulations from across the entertainment world. Among those sending their love were Zoe Ball, Jessie Ware, Tracey Emin, and Sophie Habboo. Even Claudia Winkleman chimed in, no surprise given Faith’s recent appearance on 'The Traitors UK' Celebrity edition.
Paloma already shares two daughters with her former partner, French artist Leyman Lahcine, born in 2016 and 2021. Both pregnancies were raw and difficult experiences, and Faith has been startlingly honest about the toll they took.
After the birth of her second child, she wrote on Instagram: “I had a planned c section yesterday. I'm in a lot of pain and didn’t sleep last night but it’s worth it to see and meet the new little cherub I have in front of me.” She revealed she’d lost a litre of blood, adding, “It’s been about 30 hours and already I’m exhausted, sore and my nipples are on fire with a baby piranha that wants to kill me on them every few hours but I am of course elated!”
Faith has also been vocal about her struggles with IVF, undergoing six rounds before the birth of her second child. She described her first labour as “21 active hours of labour” ending with an emergency C-section and three months of impaired mobility.
Known for hits like Picking Up the Pieces and New York, Paloma has achieved five UK Top 10 singles and six Top 10 albums. Her most recent record, The Glorification Of Sadness (2024), was a candid and emotional response to heartbreak following her split from Lahcine.
Paloma hasn’t revealed who the father of her third child is, and, true to form, she doesn’t seem inclined to. What she has made clear is that she’s ready to embrace this new chapter in her typically defiant, honest, and gloriously irreverent way.
