’90s dance favourites N-Trance are officially back — and they’re hoping to spark a fresh wave of club nostalgia with a brand new single.

Best known for their high-energy cover of Stayin’ Alive and the chart-topping anthem Set You Free, N-Trance dominated UK and Irish dancefloors throughout the mid-to-late 1990s. Blending eurodance beats with powerhouse vocals, the group became a staple of the era’s club scene, racking up multiple Top 10 hits and selling millions of records worldwide.

Now, more than two decades since their last official release, the band have returned with Higher — their first new track in years. The accompanying music video sees the group performing on a racetrack, leaning into the adrenaline-fuelled, feel-good energy that defined their original run.

The current line-up includes original members Kevin O'Toole and Dale Longworth, alongside vocalists Rachael Chambers and Tricia McTeague, plus MC B, Jay McCurdy, and DJ Junior K. The mix of founding members and fresh collaborators signals both a nod to their roots and a push toward a modern dance sound.

N-Trance first formed in the early 1990s in the UK, initially gaining traction through club circuits before breaking into the mainstream charts. Set You Free became one of the decade’s defining dance tracks, while their rework of the Bee Gees classic Stayin’ Alive gave them international recognition and cemented their place in ’90s pop culture.

Since their initial peak, the group have remained a favourite on nostalgia tours and festival line-ups, particularly across the UK and Ireland, where ’90s revival events continue to draw large crowds. However, original new material had been largely absent — until now.

Following the YouTube premiere of Higher over the weekend, fans were quick to welcome them back, with comments including: “Welcome back!” and praise for the group’s evolved but familiar sound.

Whether Higher marks a one-off comeback or the beginning of a fuller revival remains to be seen — but for those who grew up on laser-lit dancefloors and hands-in-the-air choruses, N-Trance’s return taps straight into a powerful wave of ’90s nostalgia.
