Taylor Swift's 'The Life Of A Showgirl' has been named the best selling global album in 2025.
This was confirmed by the International Federation of the Phonographic Industry (IFPI), with the album, which was released last October, topping its general albums chart, sales chart for physical releases and paid downloads. It also came out on top for vinyl releases.
The Life Of A Showgirl saw Swift break her own record for copies sold for the fourth year running.
Paying homage to Swift, the IFPI's chief executive, Victoria Oakley said: "Taylor Swift topping the IFPI global album rankings once again is a clear reflection of the strength of her connection with fans around the world".
Swift's record finished ahead of Morgan Wallen's album, I'm The Problem, with the soundtrack for Netflix animated film, Kpop Demon Hunters coming in at number three. Completing the top five was Bad Bunny's 2026 Grammy Award winning Debi Tirar Mas Fotos, and Sabrina Carpenter's Short 'N' Sweet, despite being released in 2024.
It was also confirmed that Bruno Mars' single, APT, which saw him collaborate with K Pop star, Rose, named best selling track of 2025 globally.
The Life Of A Showgirl also featured the single, Opalite, which was also named in top spot in the UK Singles Chart.
The video itself features Irish stars Domhnall Gleeson, Cillian Murphy, and Graham Norton, as well as Lewis Capaldi, Greta Lee, and Jodie Smith. Check that out and Ireland's Classic Hits Radio's report on it here.
Earlier this week, Taylor Swift was spotted introducing the USA figure skaters in a new promo for the 2026 Winter Olympic Games.
Introducing skaters, Amber Glenn, Isabeau Levito and Alysa Liu with her single, Opalite playing in the background in a new vide, Swift says: "Ladies and gentlemen, I'd like to introduce you to Amber, Alysa and Isabeau, three American showgirls on ice who will capture your heart with their stories".
Sharing the backstory of each athlete, Swift added: "Amber will be the first to tell you about how many battles she's fought, and about how the ones she's lost have meant as much as the wins. Her superpower now is embracing the fight and daring the world to test her self-belief.
"As for Alyssa, she walked away from skating when she was 16 but then came back on her own terms. Joy fuels her now. Every jump, a celebration. Every performance, a testament to the beauty of knowing yourself".
Speaking about Levito, Taylor Swift referred to her connection with the games, which are taking place across multiple cities in Lombardy and Northeast Italy.
"And then, Isabeau. I mean, she's destiny personified. Her mom grew up in Milan, and her Nonna, her grandma, lived exactly 13 minutes from the Olympic rink," she added. "When you skate like you're meant to be out there, history has a funny way of showing up".
