A major nationwide recruitment drive has been announced by Bluebird Care Ireland, with plans to hire 1,500 new staff to meet growing demand for in-home care services.

The company confirmed that positions are available for immediate start across Dublin, Cork, Galway, Limerick, and other regions nationwide. Roles span a wide range of functions, including care assistants, nurses, care supervisors, specialist carers, and operational support staff.

The expansion comes amid demographic projections from the Central Statistics Office, which indicate that Ireland’s population aged 65 and over is expected to surpass one million by 2030, rising further to 1.6 million by 2051. The figures highlight increasing pressure on healthcare and support services, particularly those enabling older people to remain in their own homes.

Bluebird Care said new recruits will benefit from structured training programmes, continuous professional support, and clear career progression pathways. The organisation operates a nurse-led model of care, combining clinical oversight with personalised support tailored to individuals living independently in their communities.

Mark McInerney, Chief Operating Officer of the company, said the recruitment campaign reflects wider societal changes and the growing need for high-quality home care services.

“Ireland is changing quickly. More people are living longer, and more families want quality care delivered in their own homes and communities. That means we need to keep building the workforce and capacity required to look after people now and into the future,” he said.

He also emphasised the broader impact of caregiving roles beyond clinical support.

“Carers play a vital role in that. They support clients not just with their care needs, but in maintaining independence, dignity, and connection to the communities they call home.”

Encouraging prospective applicants, he added:

“Through this campaign, we want to promote caring as a meaningful and professional career and encourage more people to consider the real difference they can make in the lives of others. We are recruiting 1,500 people this year for rewarding careers backed by training, development and real purpose. If you want a role where what you do matters every day, this is where you belong.”

Further details on available positions and application procedures are available through the company’s careers portal.
