Three people have been arrested in connection with the arson attack that claimed the lives of a family of four in Waterford city last week.

Gardaí arrested a man in his 50s and two women in their 30s earlier today in relation to alleged offences under Section 72 of the Criminal Justice Act 2006.

According to RTÉ, the three suspects are currently being held at Garda stations in the eastern region under Section 50 of the Criminal Justice Act 2007.

Kim and Philip English and their two young sons, Callum, 12, and Jayden, nine, died following a fire at their home in the Birchwood estate on 13 October.

The devastating incident has prompted an ongoing investigation by gardaí, who continue to appeal to the public for information that could assist their inquiries.

Anyone who may have information about the attack is urged to contact gardaí.

Meanwhile, two other people charged in connection with the incident have appeared before Waterford District Court today.

A 21-year-old man and a 31-year-old woman have been further remanded in custody following their appearance.

Both were previously charged in connection with the fatal arson attack.

The investigation remains ongoing as gardaí continue to establish the circumstances surrounding the deaths of the four members of the English family.
