The charity walk for Pieta House began this morning at 4:15am. There were 170 starting points, mostly in Ireland, for the 5km walk. The earliest starting in Australia and the latest in Canada.
The largest group had 10,000 participants this morning in Phoenix Park.
Pieta House aims to raise €3 to €4 million today throughout the fundraiser. The Events taking place include walking, running, sailing and horse riding.
Darkness into Light began in 2009 with 400 participants. The event has grown exponentially with over 2 million people estimated to have taken part. Since 2009 the event has raised over €40 million in aid of suicide prevention worldwide.
