Figures published this afternoon by the Department of Housing show 15,747 people are currently homeless in Ireland - yet another record high.
It's an increase of 167 on the number of people recorded as homeless last month, with this month's figures taken from the week of May 19th to 25th.
In that period, 4,844 children were recorded as homeless, an increase of 69 when compared to last month.
The homelessness issue is most acute in Dublin, where there are 11,323 people living in emergency accommodation.
There are 655 adults currently homeless in Cork, 505 in Limerick, 236 in Galway, and 297 in Meath.
The monthly homeless figures from the Department of Housing don't include rough sleepers, asylum seekers, refugees, women in refuge centres, or the so-called hidden homeless.
