Over the weekend, a Garda patrol car was rammed by a stolen vehicle in South Dublin.
An investigation has since been launched by Gardaí, after they had responded to calls of dangerous driving on the M50 near Leopardstown at around 2am on Sunday morning last.
Gardaí encountered the stolen car at Glencairn Drive, The Gallops, where they signalled for the vehicle to stop. But the car did not heed this warning, and rammed the patrol vehicle, before the occupants later fled the scene on foot.
The male driver of the Garda patrol car was uninjured in the incident.
Following this, a Garda spokesperson said that investigations into the incident is underway.
This also comes after five teenagers were killed following a horrible car crash along the M9 in Co Kildare, which also took place in the early hours of Sunday morning. This happened after the teenagers had been travelling in a BMW, which collided with a Hyundai which was carrying four members of an extended family.
Reports had suggested that the BMW was driving on the wrong side of the motorway twice in the minutes leading up to the accident.
This happened at approximately 3am.
