The hunger for the title was tangible with John Kiely's team. The Limerick side didn't win the Liam MacCarthy last year, a fact that seemed to only increase their ferocity this year.
The start of the game was neck and neck between the teams.
Limerick managed to pull ahead in the 17th minute. From that moment on they took control of the ball and played with conviction for the rest of the game.
The gap of only 5 points at half time was upped with a blitz of points and a goal pushing Galway further back.
Galway hit back with their own points, even scoring a goal in the final minute of extra time. However a red card in the last ten minutes highlighted their struggling position.
John Kiely described Galway as a serious challenge to play, however he talked about the hard work Limerick put in "You don't get days like this without going to the well, and they did that,"
