Fans of Married at First Sight UK are in for a treat, as Channel 4 has officially announced a brand-new spin-off: Second Marriage At First Sight.

As its title suggests, the new format is effectively an all-stars version of the original show and will feature brave contestants from both the UK and Australian editions whose original marriages at first sight did not work out.

The show comes with a major twist. This time, British singletons will be paired with Australians from Married at First Sight Australia, before facing a life-changing question — is their new spouse worth moving to the other side of the world for?

The official synopsis teases plenty of drama and emotion: 'The experiment begins again in the UK; each couple will navigate cultural clashes and old wounds before they head to Australia to meet friends and family on the other side of the world and face the ultimate decision: who will consider uprooting their life for love?'

While a release date for the spin-off has yet to be confirmed, Channel 4 has announced that the series will run for a substantial 24 episodes, suggesting viewers can expect the same level of commitment ceremonies, dinner party clashes and relationship rollercoasters that have made the franchise such a ratings success.

It is also not yet known who will take part. However, since the UK version relaunched in its current format in 2021, there has been no shortage of explosive break-ups and headline-making pairings. The Australian edition — which has built a massive following among Irish viewers — has delivered equally dramatic storylines over the years.

The original UK series first began in 2015 before being revamped into a more high-intensity format inspired by its Australian counterpart. Since then, it has become one of Channel 4’s biggest reality hits, regularly dominating social media conversations during its nightly broadcasts.

For Irish viewers wondering how to tune in, the new spin-off will air on Channel 4 in the UK, which is widely available in Ireland through Sky, Virgin Media and other TV providers. Episodes are also expected to stream on Channel 4’s on-demand platform, allowing viewers to catch up online. Irish audiences have long embraced the Australian series via E4 and streaming services, so demand for this cross-continental version is likely to be strong.

Given the popularity of Married At First Sight Australia in Ireland — where it frequently trends during broadcast runs — a transatlantic romance format feels like a natural next step. The cultural clash element adds an extra layer of stakes, as couples won’t just be deciding whether to stay married, but whether to relocate their entire lives.

Channel 4 has yet to confirm when filming will begin or who the relationship experts guiding the experiment will be. However, with 24 episodes already commissioned, it’s clear the broadcaster is betting big on this all-stars twist.
