A splash of neon, big hair and brave hearts will return to the Irish coast this summer as the much-loved Strip and Dip fundraiser makes its highly anticipated comeback. Taking place on 6 June 2026, the vibrant event will once again transform Magheramore Beach into a sea of colour, courage and community spirit.
Now in its 13th year, Strip and Dip has grown into a standout event on the fundraising calendar, blending light-hearted fun with a powerful cause. At its core is the iconic group dip, where hundreds of women take to the Irish Sea in support of Aoibheann’s Pink Tie, which provides practical and emotional assistance to families navigating childhood cancer.
This year’s edition comes with an extra dose of ambition. Organisers are aiming to secure a third title from Guinness World Records—this time for the largest gathering of people dressed in 1980s clothing. Participants are being encouraged to fully embrace the retro theme, donning leg warmers, neon outfits and bold hairstyles to bring an electric 80s energy to the Wicklow coastline.
Since its inception, Strip and Dip has raised an impressive €1.4 million. These funds have already contributed to the development of Aoibheann’s Lighthouse in Crumlin, a vital respite facility offering accommodation to families during a child’s cancer treatment. The event continues to play a crucial role in ensuring that families travelling long distances have access to emergency housing and support when they need it most.
The day will begin at the Arklow Bay Hotel from 8am, before participants make their way to the beach for the main event. While the dip itself is a highlight, the atmosphere throughout the day is what truly defines Strip and Dip—uplifting, inclusive and full of camaraderie.
Organiser Dee Featherstone describes the event as an opportunity to step outside comfort zones while making a meaningful impact. With its unique mix of fun, fundraising and fearless participation, Strip and Dip continues to capture hearts year after year.
Registration is now open, with strong demand expected. It is a woman-only adult event. For those willing to brave the sea and embrace the spirit of the 80s, this promises to be an unforgettable day on the Wicklow coast—all in aid of a cause that truly matters.
