What counts as betrayal in a relationship?
For some Irish singles, it could be something as serious as ghosting. For others, it’s watching the next episode of your favourite TV show without them.
New research among members of Irish singles community 'Your Friend, My Friend' has revealed some of the modern dating habits and behaviours that could turn someone from a Faithful into a Traitor.

The research was commissioned by Centra, which is the Official Food Sponsor of The Traitors Ireland.
With The Traitors Ireland currently back on our screens for its second season, the findings are particularly timely.

Almost one in three Irish singles, 32%, said they would consider watching the next episode of a favourite show without their partner to be a relationship betrayal.
That was beaten by someone reading their messages over their shoulder, which 44% considered the biggest betrayal among a selection of everyday behaviours.
And if you think having dating apps on your phone while you're in a relationship is a red flag, you’re not alone. Twenty-six per cent said still having dating apps installed would make them lose trust in someone, while 29% said hiding their phone would have the same effect.
Ghosting was named the ultimate “Traitor” behaviour in modern dating, with 35% of respondents choosing it as their biggest dating red flag.
Breadcrumbing, where someone gives another person just enough attention to keep them interested without intending to pursue the relationship, came second at 30%.
There are also plenty of rules around the early stages of dating.
A huge 78% of Irish singles said they check out a potential date on social media before agreeing to meet them, with one third saying they do it every time.
And when it comes to first-date green flags, being kind to staff came out on top. Thirty-six per cent said this was the biggest positive sign, followed by making their date laugh at 27% and staying off their phone at 25%.
Only 4% picked offering to split the bill as the biggest green flag.
Small gestures also seem to matter once the date is over. Sixty-one per cent said someone who always texts to check in after a date is the strongest sign that they are “relationship material”.
When it comes to making a new relationship Instagram official, 28% said three months was the most popular time to wait before posting a new partner. Meanwhile, 21% said they would never post their other half at all.
Despite all these potential betrayals, most people surveyed seem to think they would make a pretty good Faithful.
Seventy-eight per cent described themselves as Faithful once they like someone, although others admitted to being “Faithful-ish” or having some Traitor tendencies.

The research comes as The Traitors Ireland returns for its second season on RTÉ One and RTÉ Player.
The second season was confirmed by RTÉ last week, with host Siobhán McSweeney returning to Slane Castle with a new group of contestants. The first series became a major ratings hit in Ireland, and the second season began on August 30.
The new series continues to air on Sunday, Monday and Tuesday nights, with The Traitors Ireland Uncloaked following each episode.
