Gardaí have seized drugs with an estimated street value of €8.5 million following a series of searches carried out across counties Meath and Louth.
The operation took place yesterday after officers stopped a vehicle in Co Meath as part of an intelligence-led investigation.
Subsequent searches at a number of locations uncovered suspected quantities of cocaine and cannabis.
The seized drugs have been forwarded to Forensic Science Ireland, where they will undergo detailed analysis to confirm their composition.
Two men, aged in their 30s and 40s, were arrested during the operation and remain part of the ongoing Garda investigation.
In a statement, Gardaí confirmed the drugs would be examined by Forensic Science Ireland.
The seizure forms part of Operation Tara, the national Garda strategy targeting organised drug trafficking networks and disrupting the activities of criminal gangs involved in the supply of illegal drugs.
