Hannah Walters has said that she and her husband Stephen Graham had to buy new suitcases in order to hold the many awards won by their joint project, Adolescence.
Walters who co created the Netflix series with Graham, had to purchase the extra luggage after the show won eight Emmy Awards, including three for Graham and one for Walters, while actor Owen Cooper scooped up the award for Outstanding Support Actor in a Limited of Anthology Series or Movie.
"The past three years has been chaotic and exciting, and it ramped up this year", Walters told The Big Issue. "It’s gone pretty bonkers, we never imagined it would be like this".
She revealed: "We had to buy another suitcase when we came back from Los Angeles, because Stephen got three and I got one (trophy)".
"When the luggage was coming round on the carousel, we let our bag of clothes go round about four times because we were too busy looking for the new suitcase with all the Emmys in it".
In winning his award, Owen Cooper aged 16 became the youngest actor to win an Emmy Award, and the teenager came in for praise from Daniel Day Lewis, who called Adolescence an "outstanding piece of work".
"That lad, Owen Cooper, is extraordinary, the scene he has with Erin Doherty, who is a wonderful actress, the two of them, is incredible", Day Lewis told The Big Issue.
"Everything. There’s no point separating one piece from another because it’s so integral", the Oscar winner added. "Even the stuff they shot in the school, I couldn’t believe it. How did you do that with these throngs of hostile school kids roaming around?
"Somehow they made it work. I’m so proud of Stephen Graham – we worked together briefly many years ago and kept in touch".
Following his win at the Emmy Awards, Owen Cooper was described as an "absolute natural" by his drama teachers. More on this here.
