Prime Video has expanded the cast of its highly anticipated romantic drama Boys of Tommen, with Irish actors Eoin Macken, Róisín Gallagher and Amy Huberman signing on for key roles in the upcoming adaptation of Chloe Walsh's bestselling novels Binding 13 and Keeping 13.
The newly announced cast members will portray the parents of the story's central characters. Eoin Macken has been cast as Teddy Lynch, Róisín Gallagher will play Marie Lynch, and Amy Huberman takes on the role of Edel Kavanagh. Their characters are expected to play pivotal roles in shaping the lives and relationships of the series' young protagonists.
Based on Walsh's internationally popular Boys of Tommen novels, the drama centres on the emotional romance between Johnny Kavanagh, portrayed by Conor Sánchez, and Shannon Lynch, played by Nancy Surridge. Set in the fictional Irish town of Ballylaggin, the story follows Johnny, a gifted rugby player with professional ambitions, and Shannon, a quiet and reserved newcomer to the prestigious Tommen College, as they navigate first love, personal struggles and family challenges.
Production on the series is now underway under the direction of Brendan Canty, whose previous credits include the acclaimed Irish coming-of-age film Christy as well as Hozier's celebrated Take Me to Church music video.
Prime Video has also confirmed an extensive supporting cast. Jamie Schneider stars as Patrick Feely, James Craven plays Pierce O'Neill, James O'Donoghue appears as Joey Lynch, Sophie McGibbon portrays Aoife Molloy, Amelia May takes the role of Claire Biggs, and John Hewson plays Gerard Gibson.
Rounding out the ensemble are Indy Lewis as Lizzie Young, Alex Dunne as Hugh Biggs, Dixie Egerickx as Katie Wilmot, Daisy Jacob as Bella Wilkinson, Jonathan Heed as Cormac Ryan and Cathal Ó Síocháin as Ronan McGarry.
The first season has been adapted by Poppy Cogan, best known for her work on A Good Girl's Guide to Murder. The series will draw its story from the opening two novels in Walsh's bestselling saga, bringing the fan-favourite romance to the screen for the first time.
Produced by wiip in association with Amazon MGM Studios, with Metropolitan providing local production services, Boys of Tommen is set to debut exclusively on Prime Video. The series will be available to audiences in more than 240 countries and territories worldwide, although a release date has yet to be announced.
