Soap legend, Beverley Callard has shared a new update regarding her cancer treatment.

The Fair City star, who is renowned for her role as barmaid Liz McDonald in Coronation Street on and off for 30 years, was diagnosed with breast cancer in February, and began radiotherapy earlier this month.

Now, Callard has taken to Instagram, confirming that she has finished her last radiotherapy session.

In the caption, Callard wrote: "And that’s a wrap on radiotherapy! 10 sessions over and done with!

"Lots more appointments down the line but for now…I’m so happy for it to be over!".

"I've done it, I’ve just finished my last radiotherapy session, fingers crossed", Callard said in a video shared on her Instagram account. "That was number ten for me and lots of people have to have lots more, I know that".

She continued: "But for now, that’s finished so hopefully, don’t know for sure, but hopefully I won’t need any more".

"positive thinking"

Elsewhere, Beverley Callard's husband, John McEwan, who had filmed the video on social media, was also heard saying: "Positive thinking, darling, that’s it".

Callard then said:  "To be honest, I feel a bit numb".

"I’ve got to see the professor again in two months and then I’ll know a lot more and mammograms and oncologists and all that, but radiotherapy is finished for now, so I’m really thrilled", she added. "I’m not going to celebrate tonight, we’re too tired, we can’t be bothered".

"I’m going to put scruffy clothes on and just sit and watch TV with a cup of tea".

Beverley Callard starred as Liz McDonald in Coronation Street on an off between 1989 and 2010, including more than 2,000 episodes.

Callard and her husband had moved to Ireland last year, after she was cast as Lily Patterson in Fair City.

Back in May, Beverley Callard had revealed that she received "absolutely great news" after a sample of her cancerous lymph nodes were sent to America, which she said: "It's on low numbers, that's what they've told me. So that's really good".
