Actress Beverley Callard has said that she has received "absolutely great news" in her battle against cancer.
Callard, who is best known for her role as Liz McDonald in Coronation Street on and off for the last three decades, was diagnosed with cancer back in February, has been very candid in her posts on social media documenting her treatment, including her recent surgery to remove her tumour.
Callard's honest posting has received plenty of praise on social media.
Now, Beverley Callard has said she has received some "absolutely great news", after being told that she can undergo radiotherapy amid her cancer battle.
In a video posted to social media, Callard said: "Well, I got absolutely great news today. I've been waiting for my results, as you know".
Callard went onto say that she had a sample of her cancerous lymph nodes sent to America to be test to "see how aggressive the cancer would be", adding: "It's on low numbers, that's what they've told me. So that's really good".
"That means I can begin the radiotherapy very soon, which I'm pleased about. So the next step is coming ahead".
The Fair City star also went on to thank her followers for their support, before telling her followers: "I'm popping the champagne, yay!".
"Well... the results are in and we are popping the champagne! I can't begin to explain the relief... now on to the next steps. What a journey it's been so far... sending love and thanks to everyone", she added.
Callard's post was met with several supportive comments from fans and celebrities, including her 'I'm a Celebrity..South Africa' co star Seann Walsh, who said: "Oh my God, I'm so happy Bev".
News of this comes after Beverley Callard left the pre recorded reality due to her ill health.
At the time, Callard said she was "absolutely gutted" after informing her fellow campmates that she had to leave the show.
"Hi guys. I've just got something to tell you all", she said. "I didn't feel very well this morning. I had a bit of a funny turn, and they've said I can't come back in. I've got to come out".
"I don't want to go. I'm really sorry", she added. "I'm absolutely gutted. I wanted to finish".
"I wanted to prove that older women could do it".
