Celebrity Traitors star Ruth Codd has shared an emotional and characteristically funny update with fans, confirming that she has undergone a second below-knee amputation. The Wexford-born actress, who rose to prominence on TikTok before starring in major series including The Midnight Club and The Fall of the House of Usher, revealed the news in a candid new video posted from her parents’ home.

Ruth previously had her right leg amputated at age 23, following years of complications. She first sustained a severe leg injury at 15 while playing football, an issue that never fully healed despite multiple surgeries and ongoing chronic pain. Six years on, she has now undergone the same operation on her left leg.

In true Ruth style, the update came with humour despite the seriousness of the moment. Addressing her followers directly, she began: "Hi guys. So, I have some good news and some bad news."

She continued: "Good news – we've had a full circle moment. I'm back making TikTok content in my parents' house. Bad news – I can't do it in front of that lovely blue floral wallpaper any more, due to the fact that that room is upstairs."

Ruth then confirmed the reason for her mobility limitations, adding: "I've just had my second below-knee amputation. So, unfortunately, those facilities are not available to me at the current moment in time. So a lot to unpack there for everyone involved."

While she chose not to go into detail about the medical reasons behind the second amputation, Ruth did share a moment of levity by introducing her followers to her new wheelchair, which she has affectionately nicknamed “Fat Tony.”

The update has sparked a wave of support online, with fans praising her resilience, honesty and humour. Despite facing another major recovery journey, Ruth’s message was filled with warmth, personality and the trademark comedic timing that first made her a social media favourite.
