Christina Applegate has said that she is being tested for lupus and Lyme disease after being misdiagnosed with multiple sclerosis (MS).
Applegate, who has starred in Anchorman, had first confirmed her MS diagnosis in 2021, an autoimmune condition which sees the immune system mistake the body for a foreign substance and attacks it.
But last month, Applegate, revealed that she was misdiagnosed for MS on her podcast, MeSsY, which she co hosts with The Sopranos star, Jamie-Lynn Sigler, who also has MS.
"This may come as great news, but to me, I'm back at square one", she said at the time. "It's hard to say that [my doctor] came into my room and she said, 'Congratulations, you don't have MS'. I was not happy at all".
Now, Christina Applegate said on the latest episode of her podcast, that she is being tested for a several different diseases which have similar symptoms to MS, including rheumatoid arthritis (RA) – an autoimmune and inflammatory disease.
"We're going in to square one, just doing some testing and going one by one of the sister-of diseases", Applegate said on the podcast. "You've got RA and you've got lupus and Lyme disease and all these things that can mimic MS".
"So now I'm being tested for all that stuff, slowly but surely".
Christina Applegate said that her misdiagnosis had made her feel like a "fraud", having believed for years that she did have MS.
"I lived as a person with MS for almost six years", she said. "It's hard for me to try to shake that identity because it's been my identity for so long".
Despite this issue, Applegate has said that she has made friends for life through her work in the MS community, having become an advocate for them.
At the time of her diagnosis, Applegate had said that she was filming the third and final series of Dead To Me, which she revealed at the time was likely to be her last.
She is also known for starring in Bad Moms, The Sweetest Thing, and Married with Children, as well as her appearance in iconic sitcom, Friends,
