Cillian Murphy’s son Aran Murphy is set to star alongside Sharon Horgan in a brand-new HBO comedy series.
A first look at the Irish stars in Youth has now been released ahead of the show’s premiere next month.

Youth will premiere on HBO Max on September 20, with Irish viewers able to watch the series following the launch of HBO Max in Ireland earlier this year.
The series stars Horgan as Alex, a 50-year-old London literary agent attempting to find sex, love and happiness while dealing with divorce, caring for her ageing parents and supporting her troubled teenage son Ruari, played by Aran Murphy.
Aran is the son of Oscar-winning Irish actor Cillian Murphy and has already begun making a name for himself as an actor.

He previously appeared in the film Lola and will next be seen in Taika Waititi’s Klara and the Sun alongside Jenna Ortega and Amy Adams.
He will also appear in the upcoming HBO series War.
Youth follows Alex as she attempts to rebuild her life after her actor ex-husband prepares to move abroad with a younger woman.
Her best friend and boss Sam, played by Sharlene Whyte, tries to set her up with older men, but Alex finds herself drawn to Patrick, played by Rupert Friend.
Patrick is a Scotsman who appears more interested in a casual relationship than anything long-term.
Alongside its exploration of relationships and life in middle age, the series will also tackle issues affecting teenage boys.
Ruari is struggling emotionally and is increasingly influenced by online content promoting distorted ideas about masculinity.

Horgan, who created and stars in the series, has previously spoken about wanting to explore the realities of middle-aged womanhood.
The actress and writer is best known for creating and starring in shows including Bad Sisters and Catastrophe.
Youth also marks Horgan’s return to HBO following Divorce, which she created and executive produced. The series starred Sarah Jessica Parker and ran for three seasons.
Horgan is writing, starring in and executive producing Youth through her production company Merman.
Faye Dorn of Merman, Jim Kleverweis and director Dawn Shadforth are also executive producers, while Sharlene Whyte, Robbie Gee and Rupert Friend round out the cast.
For Irish viewers, the series will offer another chance to see one of the country’s rising young acting talents on screen, with Aran Murphy taking on a major role alongside Horgan when Youth arrives on HBO Max next month.
