Coronation Street star Debbie Rush has said that she has been left "completely broken" following the death of her son William.
Rush who starred in the soap as Anna Windass from 2008 to 2018, has said that her son William, an actor who had starred in Grange Hill and Waterloo Road, died yesterday (December 17).
On Instagram, Debbie Rush paid tribute to "our beautiful baby boy" writing: ”There are no words that can truly capture the depth of our loss".
Asking for privacy at this understandably difficult time, Rush added: “As a family, our hearts are completely broken".
Rush also revealed that her son was an organ donor and “has given hope and life to other families, thinking of others right to the very end”, before adding: “His kindness and love will forever be part of his legacy. William will always be loved, always missed, and forever in our hearts".
William Rush was one of three children that Debbie Rush had with her husband Andrew, who she has been married to since 1989.
William Rush was known for playing Ali Duncan in Grange Hill from 2005 to 2007, as well as playing Josh Stevenson in the BBC series, Waterloo Road from 2009 to 2013. Other credits include Shameless, Vera, as well as Coronation Street at the same time as his mother in 2014.
In 2016, William Rush auditioned for the X Factor, making it as far as the third round before being sent home by the judges.
At the time of writing, no cause of death was confirmed.
A number of Rush's former co stars have paid tribute to her son.
Corrie star Sally Dynevor who plays Sally Metcalfe, wrote: “Oh Debbie I’m so shocked to hear this news. Sending you so much love. What a beautiful boy he was.".
Brooke Vincent who played Sophie Webster in the soap, added: “Oh Debbie. I am so sorry for your loss!! I’m sending you all so much love".
David Platt actor, Jack P Shepherd added: “Terrible to read that Debbie. Devastating news. thinking of you all".
Former Corrie star Katie McGlynn who also enjoyed a stint in Waterloo Road as Jodie "Scout" Allen, commented: “Debbie I am so sorry to you all. Will brought a smile to everyone’s face and was a very kind soul. Thinking of you & sending so much love to you all".
