Cristiano Ronaldo has married his longtime partner Georgina Rodríguez in a private civil ceremony in Portugal, marking a new chapter for one of football’s most high-profile couples.

The 41-year-old Portugal captain and Rodríguez, 32, exchanged vows in Cascais, the picturesque coastal resort about 30 kilometres west of Lisbon. Their five children were present for the intimate occasion.

Ronaldo confirmed the marriage on Instagram by sharing a photograph of the couple’s hands, showing their wedding bands. He captioned the image simply: “C❤️G.”

The wedding comes almost a year after Rodríguez announced their engagement in August 2025. Sharing a photograph of her hand resting over Ronaldo’s, she displayed an enormous oval-shaped diamond ring and wrote: “Sí, quiero. En esta y en todas mis vidas,” meaning, “Yes, I do. In this and in all my lives.”

The couple have been together since 2016, after first meeting in Madrid. Rodríguez was working as a sales assistant at a Gucci store when their paths crossed. Their relationship became public the following year, when they appeared together at the Best FIFA Football Awards in Zurich before making their romance official on social media.

Ronaldo and Rodríguez are parents to five children: twins Eva Maria and Mateo, daughter Alana, daughter Bella and Cristiano Jr., Ronaldo’s eldest son from a previous relationship.

Ronaldo previously described his relationship with Rodríguez in her Netflix series I Am Georgina, admitting that he had not initially expected their romance to become so serious. “I didn’t think at the beginning that this would be this strong, that I would fall in love with her,” he said. “I didn’t expect it, honestly. But after a while, I felt that she was the woman of my life.”

Rodríguez later revealed that Ronaldo’s proposal came as a complete surprise. Speaking to Elle Spain in December 2025, she said she was “shocked” and needed time to take in the huge diamond ring.

Joking about the spectacular engagement ring, Rodríguez called it “gorgeous” before adding: “It’s the least he could offer me after 10 years of waiting.”

The marriage comes just four days before Ronaldo and Al Nassr begin their 2026-27 Saudi Pro League campaign. The five-time Ballon d’Or winner, who has represented Sporting, Manchester United, Real Madrid, Juventus, Al Nassr and Portugal, is approaching the 1,000-goal mark in his remarkable career.

He recently appeared at his sixth World Cup, matching Lionel Messi’s record for appearances at six men’s World Cups, although Portugal’s campaign ended in the round of 16 against eventual champions Spain.
