The children of Dawson's Creek star James Van Der Beek sang the show's theme track on stage with other cast members as part of an event supporting the actor and cancer charity, F Cancer.

Van Der Beek who was unable to make the event, revealed last November that he was diagnosed with bowel cancer. He said he was "gutted" to miss the event, which was attended by co stars including Katie Holmes, Michelle Williams and Joshua Jackson.

Footage from the event which took place in New York City, shows cast members lining up on stage singing the theme tune, 'I Don't Wanna Wait', before being joined on stage by Van Der Beek's daughters, his wife Kimberley and their four children.

"I had been looking forward to this night for months and months and months", Van Der Beek said in a pre recorded video which was shown at the event. "I can’t believe I’m not there. I can’t believe I don’t get to hug my cast-mates".

Ahead of the event, Van Der Beek said: "This is the evening I’d been looking forward to MOST since my angel Michelle Williams said she was putting it together, way back in January. So you can imagine how gutted I was when two stomach viruses conspired to knock me out of commission and keep me grounded at the worst possible moment".
