Eamonn Holmes revealed that he once stormed out of an interview with Mariah Carey after she arrived four hours late.

The broadcaster spoke about this during a chat with Hayley Palmer at an audience With Live event at the Hippodrome Casino, London, where he opened up about the best and worst showbiz interviews he has been involved in over the years.

On his worst chat, Eamonn Holmes referred to Mariah Carey, who had left him fuming as her team had revealed that she was "tired" as she had woken at 9am, and had arrived more than four hours late to the interview.

“Bearing in mind I’ve been up from four o’clock that particular day so I’m going, ‘what the hell’s going on here’ so I said ‘right if she’s not here in the next 10 minutes I’m going", Holmes said.

He continued: “So she comes through the door, and she immediately lies down on the chaise-longue, and closes her eyes".

“And I said ‘what the f**k is going on here?".

“They said ‘Ms Carey is very tired, she’s very tired, she’s been up from nine o’clock this morning", the former Sky presenter added. “I said, ‘she’s been up from f***ing nine o’clock I’ve been up from four!’ and so I walked over and lay down beside her".

“So I said look, ‘one way this interview is happening, either we both lie down, or we both sit up".

“Her team said ‘well Ms Carey certainly won’t be sitting up,’ so I said ‘well Mr Holmes certainly won’t be doing the interview,’ and I tiddled off then".

Back in January, Mariah Carey had said in a previous interview that she refuses to refer herself as a "legend".

"Everybody has their own little meanings for what things they say," the singer told Billboard Magazine. "But I don't call myself a legend. I'm just still working, still trying hard".

Carey went on to say that she places a huge emphasis on continuing to work hard, despite her hugely successful career.

"I've always worked really hard," Mariah stated, "because I knew that I wanted to be here for a long time".
