Eric Roberts has spoken out after he missed his daughter Emma Roberts’ wedding to actor Cody John over the weekend.

The 70-year-old actor confirmed he did not attend the ceremony, despite the wedding being attended by several famous family members, including his sister Julia Roberts.

In a statement, Eric said he still has love for his daughter.
"I love my daughter, always have, always will," he said.
"It is perfectly wonderful for her to celebrate however she wants, with whomever she wants."
The actor did not give a reason for his absence from the wedding.

While Emma and Cody exchanged vows at an intimate ceremony in Idaho, Eric was seen more than 1,000 kilometres away in Los Angeles, where he was photographed leaving a gym.
Emma, known for roles in American Horror Story, We’re the Millers and Scream 4, married Cody after four years together.
The actress wore a custom vintage-inspired gown by Monique Lhuillier for the ceremony, which took place at the groom’s family estate.

She walked down the aisle with her five-year-old son Rhodes, who she shares with her former partner Garrett Hedlund.
The wedding was attended by several Hollywood stars, including Demi Moore, Kristen Stewart, Sarah Paulson and Ashley Benson.
Emma’s aunt Julia Roberts was also present, sitting in the second row with her husband, cinematographer Daniel Moder.

Eric welcomed Emma in 1991 with actress and former partner Kelly Cunningham, who attended the wedding as well.
Speaking earlier this year on the Really Famous with Kara Mayer Robinson podcast, Eric said their relationship may appear “complicated through outside eyes” but said they were not estranged.
