The new series of Home of the Year and The Great House Revival will air this Spring, following the death of broadcaster Hugh Wallace last December.

Wallace, one of the most recognisable faces on Irish television through shows such as Home of the Year, The Great House Revival and My Bungalow Bliss, passed away aged 68 in December.

The presenter's death was confirmed by his husband, Martin Corbett, who released this statement.

“It is with deep sadness and shock that I share the news that my beloved husband and soulmate, Hugh Wallace, passed away suddenly at home last night. I am heartbroken. Please respect my privacy at this deeply painful time. Martin", he said. More on this here.

"capturing the heart of viewers"

Now, it has been confirmed that the new editions of Home of the Year, and the Great House Revival will be aired this year in honour of Wallace.

In a statement, it was announced that "with the full support of his family", the new series of Home of the Year will air on TV later this year. The show was completed prior to Wallace's death in December. The statement also said that Wallace's humour and warmth will be remembered throughout the series as well as his talent for "consistently capturing the hearts of viewers".

Home of the Year will air in early March.

It was also confirmed that The Great House Revival will return this Spring, honouring Wallace's "remarkable dedication, passion, vibrant spirit, and enduring love for design and architecture".

Managing editor Seán Mac Giolla Phadráig has said that the show, which follows homeowners restoring older and often-derelict properties across Ireland, will honour Wallace, "who had such an enormous place in the hearts of our audience who loved him dearly. We're very grateful to his family and colleagues for allowing us to show Hugh in these final series, which showcase his love for architecture and passion for the work he did across both Home of the Year and The Great House Revival. We miss him greatly. Ní bheidh a leithéid ann arís".

It was also stated that Hugh Wallace will be fondly remembered by every team he worked with on both programmes at ShinAwil an Animo TV, and by his fans who  "welcomed him into their homes for so many years".
