Rupert Grint has claimed that he will never get out of Ron Weasley's shadow.
The actor who played the character Ron Weasley in all eight films from the Harry Potter franchise from 2001 to 2011, has also worked on other projects. But he feels that his role of Ron Weasley will be the role he will always be remembered for.
“I don’t think I’ll ever quite step out of his shadow, but I’m fine with that", Grint said. “I think it’s great. I love meeting people who really feel this was a part of their childhood".
Despite this, Grint insists that he is still proud of being known for the role as the red haired wizard.
“No, absolutely not. I love it. It has quite a deep meaning to a lot of people of my generation, and even more to generations who are finding it now", he said. “It’s great. It gives me a lot of pride. It was such a huge thing".
Rupert Grint who starred in the franchise alongside Daniel Radcliffe and Emma Watson in the franchise, was 11 years old when the first film was released.
“It changed my whole life quite quickly,” he said. “I was a huge fan of the books, so for me it was like stepping into the books, and that was very special".
Rupert Grint made these comments ahead of the 2027 release of HBO's new Harry Potter adaption.
It emerged that Grint had written a letter to Alastair Stout, who will play Ron, after Daniel Radcliffe had also written a letter to Dominic McLaughlin, who will play Harry.
“I wrote him a letter, before they started, passing the baton as it were", Grint explained. “It was really just wishing him all the best with it. I had so much fun stepping into this world, and I hope he has the same experience. I think it’s great that it’s a whole new thing. It’s going to be its own thing, and I think that will be fun".
When asked if he would ever reprise the role as Ron, Grint said: "Maybe in the future. Never say never".
