This years award show will be hosted by Kevin McGahern, with the award ceremony taking place this Friday February 20th. The awards will take place in Dublin Royal Convention Centre and will be broadcast on RTÉ One on Saturday, 21 February at 10.50pm.
Cillian Murphy and Jessie Buckley are among Irish stars set to attend the event this weekend, some other names include Lola Petticrew, Louisa Harland, Jamie-Lee O’Donnell, Siobhán Cullen, Genevieve O’Reilly, Lisa McGee and Róisín Gallagher. Filmmakers Neil Jordan and Jim Sheridan are also set to attend.
The coming of age drama based in Cork leads the film category with 14 nominations, with Saipan following closely behind with 12 nominations.
Chloé Zhao's drama film 'Hamnet' has four nominations including Jessie Buckley in the Lead actress category, Paul Mescal in Supporting Actor, International Film and a screenplay nomination for Maggie O’Farrell.
According to RTE, IFTA has stated that there is a record number of women up for an award in the directing category, including Rachel Carey for Obituary, Megan K Fox for Video Nasty, Oonagh Kearney for The Au Pair, Mia Mullarkey for Hidden Assets, and Aisling Walsh for Showkids among others.
It has also been reported that Oscar-nominated actor Ciarán Hinds will receive the IFTA Lifetime Achievement Award.
