The announcement marks a major milestone in what the singer has previously described as one of the most difficult periods of her life. She first revealed her diagnosis in June last year, telling fans at the time that she would be undergoing surgery and stepping back from public commitments to focus on her health.
Following her initial operation, Jessie J faced further complications that led to additional medical treatment and disrupted her career plans. In August, she was forced to cancel a string of shows across the UK, Europe, and North America, after doctors advised her to undergo a second operation.
During the same period, the singer was admitted to hospital after experiencing chest pains. Tests later confirmed she had developed an infection along with fluids in her lungs, which made it difficult for her to breathe. At the time, she explained her condition publicly, saying: “hard to breathe in, but I discharged myself last night and will continue the investigation as an outpatient”
Despite the setbacks, Jessie J continued to update fans throughout her recovery journey. By early December, she shared that she was improving, although doctors had warned her there remained a possibility the illness could return. She also clarified that she had not been diagnosed with an “invasive” form of the disease.
Speaking in an interview with ABC News, she reflected on the relief of early detection, saying: “I’ve been really lucky, super lucky to find it so early. It wasn’t invasive, thank God. I know there’s a chance it could come back, but until then, we’re living life”
Alongside her physical recovery, the singer has also spoken openly about the emotional toll of the past year. In January, she described 2025 as both “one of the hardest but most magical years” of her life, reflecting on the contrast between personal struggle and professional experiences.
She also addressed the mental strain of recovery and time away from work, writing candidly on Instagram Stories about her emotional state. In a widely shared post, she said: “This is an honest story post that will get blown up I’m sure. But who cares”
She continued: “As truthfully in a world full of ‘everything is fine, I’m happy, I’m good, life is perfect’ there is grief hurt pain sadness heartbreak and reflection and processing happening this time of year for many of us, along side the good and great or on its own”
Reflecting further on her emotional state during recovery, she added: “This year has been heavy and hard in many ways for all of us, for me personally one of the hardest but most magical years of my life. Personally and professionally. But all the sadness has come up this week, it’s the first time I’ve stopped (working and being in public in months) So I’m crying a lot. Writing shit down feeling really low tbh. The lowest I have felt in a while”

She also described what she called an “accumulation” of emotions coming to the surface as she slowed down and processed the year.
The singer encouraged others experiencing similar feelings not to suppress them, saying: “Don’t hold it in people,” and “We are not superhuman or meant to be happy and positive all the time. It’s healthy and normal to cry”
She concluded her message with a note of solidarity to fans: “Sending love to anyone feeling this way too right now. No positive end to this. Just I’m with ya. It’s s** sometimes”*
The news that Jessie J is now cancer-free has been met with widespread support from fans, marking a hopeful turning point after a year defined by surgery, hospital stays, and emotional recovery. While she has acknowledged that ongoing monitoring may still be part of her future care, her latest update signals a significant moment of relief after a prolonged and difficult health journey.
