Kate Winslet is reportedly joining the ‘Adolescence’ cast for season two.

Reports have suggested that a new season of ‘Adolescence’is in the works with Winslet taking the starring role.

The Netflix series, starring Stephen Graham as a father of a boy who is suspected for the murder of his female classmate.

The show discussed toxic masculinity and the manosphere. The delved into the impact of social media on young people and led to the ban of social media for teenagers in the UK. The show went on to win a number of awards and was nominated for nine Emmys.

In January, Graham teased a new season at the Golden Globes. After he accepted his award he hinted that he and the show's writer Jack Thorne had plans. "It's somewhere in the deep recesses of my mind and Jack's mind. We'll pull it out in three or four years, so stay tuned," Graham told journalists in Los Angeles.

The Daily Mail have revealed that their source confirmed that Winslet is involved in the new series and it is currently in development. '"It's happening and in development. There's excitement that Kate's on board," their source revealed.

Winslet is well known for her roles in Titanic, The Reader, and the Avatar films, and ‘Adolescence’ won't be Winslet's first time starring in a series that deals with mental health and social media as the actress appeared in the drama 'I am Ruth'. The Channel 4 series is centred around teenage depression caused by social media.

Producer of the show, Hannah Walters told Variety that there will not be a prequel to ‘Adolescence’ but "there’s so much mileage in the one-shot and so much mileage in investing into human nature again and looking at something else.”
