WARNING: Spoilers ahead!
We audibly gasped when we witnessed Noah get down on bended knee in Nobody Wants This S3 — we want this!
Noah's marriage proposal to Joanne was so specific, so them, that we were wondering how on earth writer Erin Foster got the brainwave for it.

Well, it transpires that the proposal was actually inspired by Erin's own engagement to her hubby, Simon Tikhman. They say write what you know, after all!
On Wednesday, Erin explained: 'So about a month before he proposed, we got this invitation to a wedding vow renewal.' Flipping through the invite, she continued: 'It had attire and a schedule for the whole weekend. He never really drew attention to it.'
'He said, "This is kind of a work thing. You’re welcome to come with me. You don’t have to, no pressure,"' she recalled. '"But you know, I think it could be kind of romantic and nice."'

Erin recalled that Simon even roped her into getting a manicure done with her niece so that her 'nails would be ready' for the big moment.
The writer had no suspicions of her then-boyfriend's plan to propose, adding that he was cool as a cucumber and 'wasn't acting weird at all'.
'Meanwhile my sister was flying to Napa with my ring from New York,' Erin continued. 'So, Simon and I get to the hotel in Napa and the front desk literally hands us an envelope with our name on it and tells us what the activities are for the weekend with the wedding, because Simon had flown up there and prepped them all to pretend that this wedding was happening.'

Erin and Simon arrived at a Napa Valley vineyard, where signs pointed them towards the 'vow renewal ceremony'. They were told the other guests had gone on a wine tour, and they felt nothing but relief to be missing that.
'Meanwhile our families are fully just hiding inside that big barn,' the writer added.
The video showed footage of her family watching the proposal from inside the barn, and at one point, her sister could be heard screaming 'Oh God', as her future brother-in-law got down on one knee.

Afterwards, Erin's family members flooded out of the barn and rushed to her side to surprise her. 'And that's how I got engaged to a psychotically romantic genius,' she concluded.
Nobody Wants This is loosely based on Erin's real-life relationship with Simon, whom she met at an LA gym in 2018. The couple wed on New Year's Eve 2019, and welcomed their first child, a daughter, in May 2024.
Erin previously described the series as a love letter to her marriage, and said: 'I don’t feel like season one was more true to my life, and season two is more fiction. They both are really a mix.'
