Kelly Clarkson Addresses Weight Loss Medication Speculation

Speaking to actress Whoopi Goldberg about the subject, Clarkson has insisted that she has not used Ozempic, but "something else", which has helped her to lose weight.

The drug itself has been allegedly used by several Hollywood stars in order to lose weight. However, just a handful of celebrities have admitted to using it publicly, including Stephen Fry, who admitted that he used it "years ago", but had to stop as it was causing him to vomit five times a day.

Originally designed for people with diabetes, the medication is used to supress the appetite and lengthen the amount of time food stays in the stomach, leading to weight loss.

It has been banned as a treatment in the UK for obesity, due high demand, which led to a global shortage.

Speaking on The Kelly Clarkson Show, Goldberg told the singer that he had "lost almost two people" in weight by "doing that wonderful shot that works for folks that need some help". The actress has previously spoken about using the medication Mounjaro, another diabetes drug approved for weight loss in the US.

Clarkson replied to Goldberg by telling her own story, "My doctor chased me for like two years and I was like, 'No, I'm afraid of it. I already have thyroid problems'," she said. "Everybody thinks it Ozempic. It's not".

In fact, the Since You've Been Gone singer revealed that she used  "something else... that aids in helping break down the sugar - obviously my body doesn't do it right".

Clarkson also added that at her heaviest, she weighed 203 pounds or 14.5 stone, and decided to begin a weight loss programme after watching a live performance of herself, and not recognising who she was watching on screen, having been told that she was at a pre-diabetic stage earlier this year.

She said, "You see it, and you're like, 'well, she's about to die of a heart attack'".
