Jennifer Aniston and Lisa Kudrow have joked about reuniting with Courteney Cox for a new sitcom, as the longtime friends reflected on their decades-long bond, life after Friends, and the possibility of returning to multi-camera comedy.

The pair, who first rose to global fame more than 30 years ago when Friends premiered, spoke warmly about their history together and how their relationship has evolved since the iconic sitcom ended.

Kudrow, who has recently been working on the final season of The Comeback, told Aniston she has been fully immersed in writing and production, saying she is “so single-focused” and that it had been “a lot of work”.

Aniston, meanwhile, discussed her role in The Morning Show, reflecting on the emotional complexity of her character and the wider storytelling in the Apple TV+ drama.

But much of the conversation centred on nostalgia, particularly their time filming Friends on Warner Bros. Stage 24, where both actors became emotional recalling the atmosphere on set and the experience of performing in front of a live audience.

Kudrow admitted she hadn’t always watched the show during its original run because it felt “embarrassing” to watch herself, explaining: “I just couldn’t sit there at home and have anybody walk by seeing me watching a show that I’m in.”

Aniston joked with her, teasing: “Here I am, watching my own self be brilliant and funny?” before adding, “Because you were.”

Kudrow later said she has now watched the entire series and was deeply moved by it, saying she ended up sitting for hours at a time watching episodes and thinking: “I need to go to bed! This is bad! But oh, it made me so happy to watch it.”

Aniston agreed that the show’s success came from the chemistry between the cast and writers, describing it as “lightning in a bottle” and saying the relationships on screen reflected genuine friendships off camera.

The pair also reflected on how unusual it was for major film actors to guest star on Friends, with Aniston recalling how nervous they often were. Kudrow agreed, saying it was difficult to explain the tone of the show, joking that she would tell guests: “Just talk louder. Same intention, just — louder!”

The conversation frequently drifted into laughter and shared memories of iconic moments from the show, including the Geller family storyline, with both actors joking about how absurd some of the scenes still feel today.

But the most striking moment came when the discussion turned to the future — and whether they might ever return to sitcom television.

Kudrow opened the door to the idea, saying: “I would love to do another one, if anyone wrote a good one. Let’s do it. You heard it here!”

Aniston quickly picked up on the idea and asked what a new project might look like, prompting Kudrow to suggest a reunion with Courteney Cox.

Can we do you, me and Courteney?” Kudrow said. “What would that be?

Aniston immediately responded: “Girlfriends. Let’s pitch it. Let’s workshop it in front of all of these wonderful people.”

Kudrow embraced the idea, continuing the playful pitch as the pair laughed about the possibility of revisiting sitcom television together more than two decades after Friends ended.

While the conversation remained light-hearted, it underscored the enduring chemistry between the two actresses and the continued fascination surrounding any potential Friends reunion or spin-off.

Elsewhere in the interview, Kudrow also reflected on the emotional impact of revisiting Stage 24, saying it was deeply meaningful to return to the same space where Friends was filmed, especially as The Comeback also filmed its final season there.

Aniston echoed that sentiment, becoming emotional as she recalled walking through familiar sets and backstage areas, saying it brought back powerful memories of the original show.

The exchange highlighted not only the nostalgia surrounding Friends, but also the lasting friendship between Aniston and Kudrow — a connection that continues to resonate with audiences decades later.
