Louis Walsh has said he disagreed with how he was portrayed in the recent Boyzone documentary.
The music manager said he wants to tell his side of the Boyzone documentary in the future, claiming that the recent doc's portrayal of him as "fiction rather than fact".
This three part documentary, Boyzone: No Matter What, which aired earlier this year, reflected on the band's rise to fame, as well as their internal tensions and the tragic death of bandmember Stephen Gately in 2009. The doc included interviews with surviving bandmembers Ronan Keating, Shane Lynch, Keith Duffy and Mikey Graham.
"The documentary wasn’t factual - it was fiction. Wait until I do mine. I’ll tell the real story on Boyzone, and everyone’s going to be shocked", Louis Walsh said in a recent interview regarding his portrayal in the Boyzone doc. "I wasn’t hurt because I know what Ronan Keating is like, seriously. He produced the show - it’s fine, it’s pop music. I’m managing Westlife, and they’re about to do ten nights here probably".
Switching his attention to Westlife, Louis Walsh believes the band's upcoming five show residency at Dublin's 3Arena could easily expand.
"Westlife, it’s about longevity, great songs, nice guys," he said. "Five nights going on sale - I think we’ll sell more. I could see them doing ten nights. There’s no stopping this band".
The former X Factor judge also praised the band for their long-standing connection with their fans and Irish roots.
"They know where they came from, Sligo and Dublin. We don’t take anything for granted. With Westlife, it’s the songs and it’s them - they don’t need the lights or the dancers, that’s other people’s distraction", he stated.
Walsh also added that pop music "works better outdoors", saying that the atmosphere of somewhere like the 3Arena brings out the best in a band like Westlife.
Along with announcing this huge Dublin residency, Westlife also announced the release of their new single, Chariot. You can check this out here.
