Former Love Island star Matthew MacNabb has said he hopes Irish hopeful Sean Fitzpatrick shows the public his true self when he goes into the villa.
Matthew, who tied the knot on Saturday to Dancing With The Stars professional dancer Laura Nolan in a at Kilkea Castle in Kildare, appeared on the reality TV show in 2021.
On June 1, Galway footballer Sean Fitzpatrick is set to make his TV debut in the villa – and Matthew said the 25-year-old needs to ‘stick to his guns’ while in the Spanish villa.
He said: ‘I don't know if I'm the best person to give advice, but just be yourself and kind of just stick to your guns, I think.
‘If you do that and are relaxed, I suppose you will never go wrong. Some people feel like they have to maybe be a different person when the cameras are rolling, but the best thing you can be is just yourself.’
Matthew said he has no regrets going on the show, adding: ‘I actually really enjoyed the show. It was really interesting, it's so different going into that type of show as well.
‘You're going from no experience with any TV into like this massive setup.’
Matthew said Sean should try not to care too much about what the public might think of him after he leaves the villa.
‘If you have the interpretation that you're going to go in and achieve something from the show, then that's going to set you on a bad foot.
‘And so, if you go in with a mindset that I'm just going to continue to be me after the show and continue my life and stuff, then I would say that's the best way to be, because people will like it, and people won't like it.
‘It doesn't matter what anybody thinks, really. It's me and my family and my friends that's the most important thing. So, yeah, I suppose that's my best advice,’ he added.
