Millie Bobby Brown was visibly overwhelmed with emotion during the final table read of the upcoming Stranger Things series finale, a moment captured in the new Netflix documentary One Last Adventure: The Making of Stranger Things 5. The heartfelt scene shows Brown, who has played Eleven since the show’s launch in 2016, choking up while reading her character’s powerful farewell lines opposite co‑star David Harbour.

The documentary offers fans a rare look behind the scenes as the cast prepares for the end of the hugely popular sci‑fi series. During the table read, Brown became emotional while portraying a touching exchange between Eleven and Harbour’s Hopper, prompting audible reactions from actors and crew alike. The moment underlined the deep connection between the characters — and between the actors who have grown alongside the show for nearly a decade.

Brown’s raw reaction comes amid an intense period for the cast, who have shared reflections on how much Stranger Things has shaped their lives. In the scene that moved her most, Eleven expresses heartfelt gratitude to Hopper, whom she regards as a father figure, a relationship that has resonated with audiences since its earliest seasons.

Beyond Brown, other cast members were also affected. Clips from the documentary show fellow young actor Finn Wolfhard becoming emotional as well during the table read, highlighting how the show’s end has impacted the ensemble, many of whom grew up together on set. Fans watching the behind‑the‑scenes footage have taken to social media to describe the moment as heartbreaking and unforgettable, with reactions pouring in online after clips circulated.

The finale table read represents not just the end of a script, but the closing of a chapter for the cast. Stranger Things has been a defining part of Brown’s life, with the role of Eleven launching her into international stardom while still in her early teens. The emotional weight of concluding such a long journey has been evident in multiple moments captured throughout the documentary, as cast members acknowledged the bonds they formed over years of working together.

The final season of Stranger Things arrives amid huge anticipation from fans worldwide, eager to see how the beloved series wraps up its story.

'Stranger Things' Documentary Director Reveals Reason Behind Late Finale Script

The director behind the Stranger Things documentary, Martina Radwan, has explained why The Duffer Brothers were still writing the finale's script when filming began.

The documentary, One Last Adventure: The Making Of Stranger Things 5, looked at the final season of the Netflix series, where it was revealed that the creators, The Duffer Brothers were still writing the script for the final episode, a revelation which shocked some fans.

Speaking to BBC News, Radwan said “you can’t write everything ahead of time” and the writing can bring more complications than some might thing.

“I think having access to the writer’s room is a real gift and a privilege that the brothers gave us,” she said, “because I think it’s very easy to think when you write a script, you literally just sit there and write. And it’s like: ‘No, it’s really thinking about a gazillion things, how you interweave all these stories’.

“I mean, this is a massive ensemble cast and to cover 19 character developments, it’s quite a feat and an accomplishment", she added.

In the finale to Stranger Things, Hawkins took on the evil Vecna, played by Jamie Campbell Bower, with some ambiguity regarding the fate of Milly Bobby Brown's character Eleven.

Fans had felt that some plot points were left unanswered, which led to a theory posted online, named Conformity Gate, proposing the idea that a secret, true finale was going to be released a week after the official final episode.

News of the Netflix hit was first announced last week, with a newly released teaser trailer shared, which y0u can check out here.

A trailer for the fifth and final season of Stranger Things also arrived last Summer. The final series was described as "The fall of 1987. Hawkins is scarred by the opening of the Rifts, and our heroes are united by a single goal: find and kill Vecna. But he has vanished — his whereabouts and plans unknown".

"Complicating their mission, the government has placed the town under military quarantine and intensified its hunt for Eleven, forcing her back into hiding. As the anniversary of Will's disappearance approaches, so does a heavy, familiar dread", the description adds. "The final battle is looming — and with it, a darkness more powerful and more deadly than anything they've faced before. To end this nightmare, they’ll need everyone — the full party — standing together, one last time".
