Music Fans Enjoy Stunning Electric Picnic Experience As The Wolfe Tones Steal The Show

At the weekend, 70,000 music fans descended upon Stradbally for this year's Electric Picnic, and they were not disappointed.

Those fortunate to witness Sunday's line up, were in for something special, with fans treated to performances from Rick Astley, the Saw Doctors, and the Killers.

However, the stage seemed to belong to the Wolfe Tones, who managed to draw in the biggest crowd ever witnessed at Electric Picnic.

Fans were also certainly blessed with the gorgeous sun that shone through Stradbally, with event organiser Melvin Benn saying, “I’ve literally been at every one and I have never known it to be this hot”.

Looking ahead to Electric Picnic 2024, next year's event will mark 20 years since it began. To mark this occasion, it will start a little earlier than usual, taking place 16-18 August next year, with Melvin Benn also confirming that the capacity looks set to increase by 5,000.

“I see joy in the creation and when the punters are in they feel part of the show. Not just like people who are watching. I think it’s the festival goers of the picnic that make it particularly special, Benn said. They bring a vibrancy they bring a joy and a feeling of this is our weekend and this is Ireland’s most amazing festival and I don’t think there is anyone that would question that statement and arguably the best festival in the European festival”.

Tickets for next year's show go on sale on Friday (September 8), following pre-sale the day before, with a final release of tickets on October 1.
