Natalie Portman has announced she is expecting her third child, sharing the news in a new interview and describing the pregnancy as both a “privilege and a miracle.”
The 44-year-old Oscar winner revealed the news on Friday, confirming that the baby will be her first with her partner, French music producer Tanguy Destable.
“Tanguy and I are very excited,” she said. “I’m just very grateful. I know it’s such a privilege and a miracle.”
The actress—best known for her role in Black Swan—also spoke candidly about the emotional complexity of pregnancy, acknowledging that it can be a sensitive subject for many.
“I have so many people I love who've had such a hard time with it that I want to be respectful around that as well. It's such a beautiful, joyous thing, and it's also not an easy thing,” she explained. “And so I know how lucky it is. I'm very aware, and I'm very grateful. I have deep appreciation and gratitude.”
Portman is already mother to two children—Aleph, 14, and Amalia, 9—whom she shares with her ex-husband, Benjamin Millepied. The couple finalised their divorce in February 2024, and her relationship with Destable was first confirmed in March 2025.

In the lead-up to the announcement, Portman was spotted dining with Destable and his mother at a restaurant in Paris, where the couple appeared relaxed and affectionate, holding hands during the outing.
The actress has been spending time in the French capital during her pregnancy and spoke warmly about the experience. “There’s been beautiful spring weather, so it’s been pretty amazing to just walk in the incredible parks here and go see art,” she said. “Just the usual things you do when you’re not working.”
She also joked about cultural differences around pregnancy timelines, adding: “In France, they consider full-term to be 41 weeks rather than 40, so I guess I get an extra week to be pregnant this time around.”

Reflecting on her mindset during her third pregnancy, Portman suggested this chapter feels different from her earlier experiences. “There is a gratitude that when you’re young, you don’t necessarily grasp,” she said.
“And there’s a calm and knowing myself: who I want to spend time with, what kind of energy I want around me that makes the experience so beautiful every day.”
She added that the moment carries added significance, hinting this may be her final pregnancy: “And knowing it’s probably the last time, I cherish every moment.”
The new arrival will mark a fresh chapter for the actress, who has spoken previously about the joy she finds in watching her children grow.
As she prepares to welcome her third child, Portman appears to be embracing the experience with a renewed sense of perspective and appreciation.
