The new Caroline Flack documentary is about "correcting the narrative", director Christian Collerton has said.

The documentary which airs on Disney+, will look at the months leading up to the presenter's death from suicide in 2020. This was a turbulent time for Flack, having been previously charged with assaulting her boyfriend Lewis Burton that previous December.

Burton did not support a case being put forward against Flack with the whole media coverage surrounding the incident being widely condemned.

Now, a new two part series, Caroline Flack: Search For The Truth, the former Love Island presenter's mother Christine Flack will look at the case involving her daughter's assault charge, and how the initial caution brought against her was later overturned following an appeal by the Metropolitan Police.

Christine intents to look at the "inaccuracies" regarding her late daughter's case, including reports that Caroline had hit Lewis Burton with a lamp, rather than a phone, which she insists was "wrong" and did not happen.

At a screening, director Christian Collerton said: “I think correcting the narrative was what we sort of talked to Chris about right at the very beginning of this".

Collerton added: “What was put out for public consumption during those two months was essentially the case for the prosecution".

“We wanted to put the case for defence, what didn’t make it into the newspapers".

“And even today, lots of inaccuracies around the case are still being reprinted. So at the very least, we want to kind of put an end to that and give Christine and the Flack family, and Caroline, the dignity of not having her daughter’s name trawled through.

“And she should be remembered for more than what those two months gave".

Elsewhere, series producer Sophie Clayton-Payne added:  “Caroline was never given the opportunity to have a fair trial. She was tried by the media and social media".

“She was victim to speculation and untruths, and we see the devastating impact of that and I think this film’s legacy, you know, is simply that. It’s really simple, be kind".

A teaser trailer for a new two part series was released last week. See more here.
