Channel 4 has released first-look images of Coughlan and co-star Joe Cole in the new two-part series.
The series was created, written and directed by BAFTA award winning filmmaker, Dominic Savage.
Coughlan and Savage have developed this story about "womanhood within a world shaped by masculine power, aggression, and control." The story which is told through a female lens, documents and examines the pressures placed on women in society, along with toxic masculinity and the damage it can cause.
'I Am Helen' follows the huge success of the 'I Am...' series, which follows the personal narratives of women
Previous series have starred Vicky McClure (I Am Nicola), Samantha Morton (I Am Kirsty), Gemma Chan (I Am Hannah), Suranne Jones (I Am Victoria), Letitia Wright (I Am Danielle), Lesley Manville (I Am Maria), and Kate Winslet (I Am Ruth).
'I Am Helen' is expected to air later this year with transmission details to "follow in due course", and will be available to watch on Channel 4.
