Nicola Coughlan is to star in I Am Helen, part of a new series of Channel 4's female led drama anthology, I Am....
Coughlan, renowned for starring in Derry Girls and Bridgerton, is to star alongside Joe Cole (Peaky Blinders) in I Am Helen. The actress has developed the show with award winning series-creator-director Dominic Savage, who collaborates with his leading actors on the stories for each I Am...Season.
Speaking about this, Nicola Coughlan said: "It's an absolute honour to be part of telling the next I Am… story alongside Dominic Savage - a singular talent and a storyteller deeply committed to exploring the breadth of the female experience".
"To follow in the footsteps of the brilliant women who've collaborated with him on this series feels truly surreal, and I feel incredibly fortunate to be embarking on this journey".
Elsewhere, Gemma Boswell, Commissioning Editor, Channel 4 Drama at Channel 4, added: "We are delighted to welcome back Dominic Savage alongside the supremely talented Nicola Coughlan in I Am Helen. The I Am... series is a powerful and timely portrait of our times, and we are thrilled to have the powerhouse combination of Dominic and Nicola to tell such a distinctive and impactful story".
Previous series of this show have starred Gemma Chan (I Am Hannah),Vicky McClure (I Am Nicola), Suranne Jones (I Am Victoria), Samantha Morton (I Am Kirsty), Letitia Wright (I Am Danielle), Lesley Manville (I Am Maria), and Kate Winslet (I Am Ruth).
Channel Four have also confirmed that broadcast details for I Am Helen "will follow in due course".
