Irish actors Paul Mescal and Jessie Buckley have both received Golden Globe nominations.
The pair have been nominated for their roles in Hamnet, an adaption of the Maggie O'Farrell book about William Shakespeare and his wife Agnes, and how the deal with the heartache of losing their son Hamnet, who died aged 11 in 1596.
Normal People star Mescal has been nominated for Best Performance by an Actor in a Supporting Role in a Motion Picture (Drama). He has been nominated in the same category as Benicio Del Toro, Jacob Elordi, Sean Penn, Adam Sandler and Stellan Skarsgard, who have also been nominated for Best Performance by a Male Actor in a Supporting Role at the 2026 Golden Globe Awards.
Meanwhile, Buckley has been nominated for Best Performance by an Actress in a Motion Picture (Drama), alongside Renate Reinsve (Sentimental Value), Tessa Thompson (Hedda), Jennifer Lawrence (Die My Love), Julia Roberts (After The Hunt) , and Eva Victor (Sorry, Baby).
Elsewhere, Hamnet also earned a nomination in the Best Picture category, alongside Bugonia, Blue Moon, No Other Choice, Marty Supreme, Nouvelle Vague, and One Battle After Another.
Leonardo Di Caprio earned a nod for Best Male Actor in a Comedy or Musical Film, alongside George Clooney for Jay Kelly, Timothée Chalamet for Marty Supreme, Lee Byung-Hun for No Other Choice, Jesse Plumons for Bugonia, and Ethan Hawke for Blue Moon.
In the category for Best Female Actor in a Comedy or Music Film, Rose Byrne earned a nod for If I Had Legs I'd Kick You, Cynthia Erivo was nominated for Wicked: For Good, Kate Hudson for Song Sung Blue, Chase Infiniti for One Battle After Another, Amanda Seyfried for The Testament Of Ann Lee, and Emma Stone for Bugonia.
