Paul Mescal's mother has put her heart and soul into a new project, in the form of a book called Finding Joy.

Dearbhla who had previously been battling cancer, was told that her illness was in remission in June last year. She has now decided to tell everyone about her story.

The mother of three shared the news on social media, telling her followers: "I wrote a book and I get to share it with you all. It is my heart opened up to you".

"It is about capturing the extraordinary in the everyday", she explained. "I hope you love it as much as I loved creating it. My heart is full".

Elsewhere, Dearbhla spoke about feeling a sense of excitement mixed with nerves, saying that she was feeling "a little bit vulnerable, a little bit brave, and maybe a little bit proud".

As for the book itself, Dearbhla added: "This little book is a culmination of my curated joys throughout the past few years".

"It contains my rambling thoughts on life's issues that have popped up along the way. I truly hope it gives you a pathway to beginning your own 28 days of finding joy", she stated. '"With poems, musings, thoughts, and inspirations to take you through the hard times and let you see some light, this is the perfect comforting literary hug for humans who want to briefly catch their breath in their busy lives".

An official synopsis for Finding Joy reads: "A poetry lover, a curator of joy, and a wise woman with a deep sense of compassion, Dearbhla Mescal encourages her followers online to find the joy in everyday life and celebrate the little things".

"Now, in her first book, Dearbhla shares her own practice of finding joy in a beautiful and uplifting collection of thoughts, recollections, and poems".

Finding Joy is to be released in February 2026.
