Filming is currently underway in County Wicklow for a new Netflix romantic drama that has attracted a mix of international stars and well-known Irish talent. The project, titled Walk the Blue Fields, was confirmed to be in production earlier this year and is already generating attention as cast members have been spotted on location.
Among those seen filming is The Devil Wears Prada star Emily Blunt, who leads the project alongside Irish actor Andrew Scott, widely recognised for his role in Fleabag. The pair appear to be central to the story, with their presence in Wicklow drawing interest from locals and fans alike.
They are joined by a strong supporting cast that includes veteran actor Ciarán Hinds, who recently received a Lifetime Achievement Award at the IFTA Awards. Other Irish and UK-based performers involved in the production include Tom Cullen, Mark Stanley, Ruth Bradley, Carrie Crowley, Naoise Dunbar, Jane Brennan, and Bríd Brennan, creating a line-up that blends established names with emerging talent.
The film is adapted from Claire Keegan’s acclaimed short story of the same name. Direction is being handled by Irish filmmaker John Crowley, known for previous work on Brooklyn and We Live in Time. In addition to starring, Emily Blunt is also serving as a producer on the project, further highlighting her involvement behind the scenes.
According to the official synopsis, “On her wedding day, a woman’s future is thrown into doubt when she is confronted with a heart-wrenching decision, as a love triangle from her past threatens to be revealed.” The story is expected to explore themes of love, regret, and emotional conflict, set against the backdrop of rural Ireland.
Blunt’s commitment to filming has impacted her availability for other promotional duties. She has reportedly missed several international appearances tied to the upcoming The Devil Wears Prada 2, including events in Mexico, Tokyo, Seoul, and Shanghai. However, she is still expected to attend premieres in London and New York.
While anticipation for Walk the Blue Fields continues to build, Netflix has not yet confirmed an official release date.
