The popular Netflix hit series, MobLand, is set for a second season.

Starring Irish actor Pierce Brosnan, the series looks at the Harrigan crime family in London, and has risen to becoming the platform's most-watched original show so far, drawing in as many as 26 million viewers.

This news was confirmed by Brosnan himself, who shared a video via social media, where he wrote: "Unfinished business never ends quietly. #MobLand will return for Season 2 only on @paramountplus".

Pierce Brosnan stars in the series, alongside Helen Mirren and Tom Hardy. The cast also includes  Paddy Considine, Joanne Froggatt, Lara Pulver, Anson Boon, Mandeep Dhillon, Jasmine Jobson, Geoff Bell, Daniel Betts, Lisa Dwan, and Emily Barber.

Speaking about this, Co CEO of Paramount and President of MTV Entertainment Studios, Chris McCarthy said: "MobLand has captured audiences around the world, climbing to the top of the UK streaming charts and making waves internationally".

"It’s a powerful testament to the creative firepower behind the series- Guy, Jez, Ronan, David Glasser- and the magnetic performances from Tom, Pierce, and Helen".

Jez Butterworth, who co writes the series, added: "Television was a new venture for me, and I initially hesitated. But working with this team changed everything. I’m thrilled to continue the journey into season two".

Earlier this month, Pierce Brosnan was forced to defend his Irish accent in MobLand following criticism. More on this here.
